The College of Engineering, Chengannur
is a premier Engineering Institute located at Chengannur, Kerala. With
undergraduate courses leading to B.Tech Degrees from the Cochin
University of Science and Technology, CEC, as it is popularly known is
a highly acclaimed technology training centre. Renowned for its highly
active student community and for commendable achievements in various
fields, CEC is one of the better equipped colleges to bring out
efficient and capable engineers.
The College of Engineering, Chengannur
(CEC), was established in the year 1993 under the auspices of the
Institute of Human Resources Development, a Government of Kerala
undertaking . It offers undergraduate courses, leading to the award of
B.Tech. Degrees of the Cochin University of Science And Technology. The
College is located at Chengannur,in Alappey district, a town in the
heart of Travancore, Kerala. The college is very well-equipped and has
a highly competent staff. Equipped with all required resources and
more, the college ranks high among Engineering Colleges in Kerala.
Besides excellent academic training, the college also provides a
positive base for an individual's overall development with its share of
co-curricular and extra-curricular organizations and events. A high
level of technical and general awareness among students is a salient
feature of CEC. Highly stringent standards of evaluation always
maintain the students at a high level of academic excellence.

The Institute of Electrical
and Electronics Engineers Inc. (IEEE) is the world’s
largest technical society with nearly with nearly 360000 members in 183
countries. The IEEE promotes the development of electro technology and
allied sciences, the application of those technologies for the benefit
of humanity, the advancement of profession and the well being of its
members. The IEEE Student Branch (60451) of College of Engineering
Chengannur came into existence on 16th September 1996. Since its
inception, the branch has grown from strength to strength becoming the
largest in Kerala Section and one of the most active in the entire
region 10 (Asia Pacific Region). The branch became the largest in the
Asia-Pacific Zone, with 355 members in the year 1997-98. The branch is
highly active and has been successful in exposing CECians to actual
professional experience. The students are brought in touch with the
actual industry in Industry-Institution interaction through various
meets and seminars organized by the IEEE. Eminent professors,
businessmen and researchers are invited to give Seminars on the latest
technologies. In the year 2005, our student branch has been awarded the
'IEEE Center of Excellence',third in Asia
Pacific Region. We also set the trend by starting
the first IEEE Women
in Engineering (WIE) affinity group in Asia Pacific Region.
