CEC Student Branch (60451)
Established in mid 1996,
the IEEE Student Branch of College of Engineering, Chengannur(CEC) has
kept to its goal of keeping the students of CEC in touch with the
latest technological advances. The most active Student Branch within
the Section. Has always been supportive in all sorts of initiatives by
IEEE and Section.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Largest SB in Region 10 during the year 1997-98
- IEEE HQ awarded the SB with Center of Excellence Award , a grant of USD $3000, for the first time in India and third in Asia-Pacific Region.
- Best Student Branch Award by Kerala Section in 1998, 2000, 2006
- Founders of the new initiative to network among the SBs within the Kerala Section known as IEEE LINK
- Won fifth and exemplary award for Region 10 IEEE Student Branch website design competition in the years 2002 and 2003 respectively.
- Githin F Alapatt awarded second prize for essay writing competition conducted by IEEE Circuits and Devices Magazine at international level.
- Prijoe Philips Komattu was awarded the “Larry K. Wilson Award” in 2005 for his contributions to LINK and IEEE.
- Mrs. Nisha Kuruvilla was awarded “Outstanding Branch Counselor” Award from IEEE headquarters in 2006.
- Mr. Anilkumar C.V has won “Outstanding Branch Counselor” Award of Kerala Section in 2008.
- Mr.Arjun R Pillai is selected as the R10 GINI Coordinator of Kerala Section for 2009-09.
- IEEE CEC is the Co-organizers of the IEEE 125th Anniversary Region 10 Student Congress 2009.
College of Engineering, Chengannur (CEC) was very keen by the IEEE initiative especially aiming for the encouragement of Women Engineers around the world. As Kerala Section established the first WIE Section Affinity Group in the world, CEC was more specific to bring down the initiative to its own lady members at a SB level.
HIGHLIGHTS
- IEEE Women in Engineering Affinity Group was formulated for the first time in Region 10, on 7th February 2004.
- Ms.Seenu Chrispin (WIE Chair person) represented R10 as the WIE speaker for the R10 conference at Hong Kong in 2004.
- Administered the first IEEE Student-Teacher and Research Engineer/Scientist (STAR) Program to mentor young women in high schools in 2007.
- Received the "Chapter of the year" award in 2005.
- Working in organizing various programs intra college for the Empowerment of Women.
