IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter College of Engineering Chengannur organized a programming session on Competitive programming which focussed on first years that was conducted on 15th October 2018 from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
This particular topic was considered to deepen knowledge of students on online competitions since it plays a major role in recruiting in companies and growth within a programmer. Henceforth, the session was taken by Mr. Georgy Jose, Secretary IEEE SB CEC and Mr. Mathew Alex, FOCES Chairman CEC experts in the field by practical experiences guided the students with zest and simplicity.
1. They began with the first and foremost prerequisite: Basic knowledge in any programming language. For example C, C++, Java, Python etc.
2. Participate: SPOJ is a problem archive, recommended for beginners, HackerEarth, HackerRank, CodeChef, Project Euler etc. are best practice hubs to attain confidence and logic.
3. Online coding contest: You write codes and submit them online. The judge runs your code and checks the output of your program for several inputs and gives the result based on your program’s outputs that follow the constraints.
Above all, nothing can be achieved without practice. Mr. Mathew Alex stressed how important it is to learn from our error while coding even though it’s frustrating. Keeping ‘Coders never give up’ on the mind, the sessions winded up by 5 pm.
