National level technical symposium on Embedded Product Design and Emerging Trends” was organized by SSCS Chapter College of Engineering Chengannur, India from 4 th April 2017 to 6 th April 2017. The event was graced with the presence of distinguished lectures from top institutions in India. The workshop attracted about 120 participants from around 10 reputed academic institutions. The presence of industrial persons and other faculty members of the college also added colors to the success of the event.
The event began with a prayer at 9.00 am and Mr. Liju Philip, Assistant Professor, College of Engineering Chengannur and the programme convener delivered the welcome speech. Ms. Leenu Elsa Mathews, SSCS chapter Secretary delivered a brief overview of the event. Felicitation speeches were given by Mr. Sam K Sumesh, Assistant Professor, College of Engineering Chengannur, Mr. Manoj Kumar P., IEEE Student Branch Counsellor, College of Engineering Chengannur and Mr. Ayoob Khan T.E., Associate Professor, College of Engineering Chengannur. The function was inaugurated by Dr. Lyla B Das, Associate Professor in Dept of Electronics and Communication Engineering, NIT Calicut by lighting the lamp. The inaugural ceremony concluded with the vote of thanks delivered the SSCS student chair Mr. Subin Abraham.
Dr. Lyla B Das, Associate Professor in Dept. of Electronics and Communication Engg, NIT Calicut had an interactive session about Embedded Trends. The second session of day one commenced at 1.30 pm after the lunch break. Mr. Liju Philip, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Electronics and Communication, College of Engineering, Chengannur introduced the participants to FABLAB, an innovative design workshop session. The session came to an end at 4.30 pm.
The second day started at 9.30 am as Mr. Liju Philip continued his workshop session on FABLAB. Mr. Philip took special care to make the session as productive as possible, by interacting with each and every one of the participants. The session was visited by the Principal, Dr. Jyothiraj V.P.
Third day commenced with the session “Internet of Things”, with Mr. Thomas Sabu Lead,R&D, Neo green labs, Kochi as the speaker. He talked about a new world of the Internet of Things (IoT) in which networks of sensors relay information about the physical world to “smart” machines that analyze and interpret the data. The IoT could revolutionize the way factories are run, how health care is delivered, and the future of transportation.
The coordinators were really proud to present such an event in the starting year of SSCS chapter itself. The event was funded by the SSCS extra subsidy program. The feedbacks received from the attendees were very positive and impressive. The certificates to the participants were handed over during the closing ceremony. The 3 day workshop came to an end by the heart felt vote of thanks by Dr. Nisha Kuruvilla, Co-ordinator of the workshop along with a motto “This is just the beginning”.
