Everyone men and women can pledge to take a concrete step to help achieve gender
parity more quickly whether to help women and girls achieve their ambitions, call for
gender-balanced leadership, respect and value difference, develop more inclusive and
flexible cultures or root out workplace bias. Each of us can be a leader within our own
spheres of influence and commit to taking pragmatic actions to accelerate gender parity.
Keeping this in view, IEEE Women in Engineering Affinity Group College of Engineering
Chengannur conducted International Women’s Day (IWD) Celebration on 8th March
2018. It was held on behalf of AURA ’18, a week to celebrate womanhood.
The celebration began with delivering a code of ethics by Miss. Irene Mary Thomas, WIE
Secretary and then Miss. Jayasree Anil, WIE Chairperson held forth welcome speech. Dr.
Nisha Kuruvilla, SSCS Advisor addressed the program mentioning the activities conducted
by WIE. She shared the experience to motivate students. Dr. Jacob Thomas, Principal
College of Engineering Chengannur gave a speech of felicitation and appreciated for
conducting women’s day celebration by assembling all women faculties and students in
college. WIE Advisor, Prof. Deepa V S listed out all upcoming activities of WIE in the
coming months. Miss. Amalu Susan Santhosh, Joint Secretary IEEE SB CEC, delivered the
special IWD’18 speech. The cake cutting ceremony added more sweetness to the week-
long series of women’s day celebration Aura’18. Prof. Rani Vijaya G L, the most senior staff
distributed the cake to all. The vote of thanks delivered to all by WIE Vice Chairperson
Miss. Anjali N Nair. The event became most successful with the presence of more than 45
women faculties and almost all the IEEE WIE members.
